Another few trades down, and this is now my favourite comic of all time. Not only is it a phenomenal (not using that word lightly) example of what sequential art can be (possibly the pinnacle), it's an incredible work of fiction, period, in any medium.
It's so good I don't want to see an adaption of it in another medium, it doesn't need it, it's all here. No actor could do justice to the acting already on the page.
If you haven't read this before, but love comics, go and buy the omnibus edition, you won't regret it.

It's funny, the only reason I know ANYTHING about SiP is because of all of the press WIZARD magazine gave it back in the 90s. Between that and Martin Wagner's HEPCATS, I felt like I was tapped into the underground.

I loved WIZARD and read up until its end. Now, I waited and always bought old issues through the $1 bin of my LCS but it was always worth it for a single story. I started with #23 - the Image Vs Valiant DEATHMATE cover, which is probably the quintessential 90s image.
But yeah, WIZARD helped me know about MADMAN, CEREBUS, HELLBOY, what my favorite creators looked like, and that Bart Sears LOVES to draw muscles.
