I've got the Showcase Presents: Rip Hunter...Time Master vol. 1. The thing I'm most amazed at is that this guy's stories weren't really about time travel. He mostly fought aliens, dragons, winged mutants, etc instead of villains across time. The bubble was more of a device to change the world he was in than to transport him through time. His first adventure involved him going back to the Mesozoic age where some modern day goons were waiting for him. They stole his EXTRA time sphere (!!!) and kidnapped his girlfriend (Bonnie), meeting him back in a dinosaur-infested jungle. Here's the exchange between Rip and the goon-
Rip: Okay...What's your game, mister? Goon: You and your friends are gonna help Hoyt and me search for valuable minerals here in this prehistoric world! We figure there should be plenty of gold, silver and diamonds around for the grabs! Bonnie: They forced Corky and me to bring them here in our first experimental time sphere, Rip!
I love that stuff. I don't think they knew how to make a dedicated time-travel story and started writing about aliens and such instead.
