I put this over on the QoTW thread too, but comic pushers, help!
Superior Spider-Man we saw Otto try and be the hero and fail. We saw this with Riddler trying to be a detective in Gotham before the New 52. The Thunderbolts and Ant-Man. All villains turned heroes and a lot of failure.
What other stories are there with the villains turn good and end up failing?

Two-Face is good for this! I remember my shock when I found Harvey fighting crime in the One Year Later arc. He's had his runs with redemption and relapse. Magneto? Captain Cold has had some great moments like this. He goes through a period of redemption when he's on the side of good, when he decides it's just not the life for him. Lots of the Rogues were like that. There are some great Lex Luthor moments like this, too. And there's always Syndrome from The Incredibles! I like that angle. I seem to remember Thanos being at peace for awhile and looking like a protector. No idea when he turned villain again.

All of post-Siege Loki. Probably my favorite character arc in mainstream comics has been what has been going on with Loki, starting with his rebirth in Fraction's Thor, followed by Gillen's Journey into Mystery and Young Avengers, and now Ewing's Agent of Asgard.
Also, while he is not a mainstream comics villain, the series Incorruptible is about a villain who decides to become a hero when the superhero he fought turns evil. It's the companion series to Mark Waid's fantastic series, Irredeemable.
