He is the greatest. I don't know if I can really verbalize how much I love Superman. I don't always read his comics, but just knowing he's there is always comforting. I love his costume. Yes, with red undies. I love that when there's a crisis every super hero breathes a sigh of relief when he shows up. I love that he's an example of the power of good parenting. Both as a son and now as a father. He's not haunted. He's not out for vengeance. He protects people because he has an unshakable love of humanity. What's not to like?

I love him. He's like the cool uncle we all want. Love me some Supes.
A big part of his mythos is that he is unabashedly American, which doesn't resonate with me, but hell - for the last few decades (I guess) he's been portrayed as a hero for the people, not just one nation.
I have a standing order with my wife to play the Donner theme song at my funeral.
I love big blue. I confess I've been out of date with his book for a good long while, and historically when I have kept current with it, his book has rarely been the favorite comic I was reading at the time (aside from probably All Star) but, even if I'm lukewarm on runs of his book I absolutely love the character. I think he's super important, a great example for other superheroes in the DCU, and for real live human beings. I love that the first and most iconic superhero in the world is all about basic decency.
