Last week, Matt and I lost a friend. Jason Ballard was the older brother of our buddy Joel (occasional member of the venerable Omnibros). Though he struggled with mental and physical issues, Jason was a shining light that illuminated the lives of everyone that knew him. Matt and I are raising money to make a memorial donation in Jason's name to the Ollie Webb Center, an organization that offers assistance and advocacy for individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities. Ollie Webb was a huge part of Jason's life, and so it feels right to honor his memory this way.
The majority of you didn't know Jason or his family, but we are asking for your help to make this donation have a greater impact. If you are led to do so, please go to PayPal.com and send a monetary gift to firstname.lastname@example.org. Mark your donations "For Jason" -- 100% of everything you give will go toward this cause.
A couple of notes:
- Please DO NOT use the Donate button on our website for this, as that will enable PayPal to take a percentage. Sending a gift directly to us will not.
- The turnaround time for this is extremely quick. Please send your donations as soon as possible - no later than 6am on Thursday morning. I'd like to hand off the donation to Ollie Webb on Friday and it will take about 24 hours to transfer the funds out of PayPal.
- Any amount you can give, no matter the size, will be immensely appreciated.
If you're unable to donate, we understand -- it's a lot to ask for a in such a short time, especially for someone that you didn't know. But please consider it, and know that we're extremely grateful for your support.
