I think Russell Dauterman is one of the best new artists of the last five years but man, I can't get into *any* THOR books (LADY or otherwise). I agree that the angle of Jane Foster and the conundrum of the "Illness Vs The Powers" is the interesting part of the story and the THOR-ish stuff is the pedestrian part.
I agree with you on Dauterman. His art is like looking at detailed pieces of candy but I like the new "Mighty Thor" comic. Jane is a different type of Thor and the story still fits that theme. Jane isn't an Asgardian, she's a medic who lives in America. New York and she loved a God. Now she is a God, but she's dying.
That's why it's "Mighty Thor". Not "The Adventures of Lady Thor" or "She-Thor", it's "Mighty Thor" because it's the fall of a God. It's ironic.
It's beautiful but you see Jane, knowing she'll die soon, doing good. Welding the hammer and coming closer to death each time. It's powerful book.
I could say the same for Laura and her wolverine title. Only Laura's story is about honoring the father age hardly knew and being better than him.
