I really wanted to like Fatale but ended up having to drop it, the only parts I was really enjoying were the essays at the end of each issue. A lot of people didn't love Incognito, but for whatever reason that one is my favorite, even above Sleeper which is usually regarded as the best one. Regardless of which I like best, I do agree that Sleeper, Incognito, and Criminal are all very good.
Surprised you weren't feeling Fatale, but in all honesty, after catching up with the first trade in one go, now it's one I'm boxing until it's finished. I was struggling to keep up with it as a monthly (this is becoming a bit of a problem with all modern books, writing for the trade is more common that not).

I was preordering FATALE because I want to support their work but I bailed after the first seven or so in favor of tpbs. In reading the tpbs, I've gotten pretty bored, so much so that I didn't even bother with the final tpb.
I have preordered the first two of their new book - just to do it - and we'll see how it goes. I thought I was a big fan of Brubaker's writing but, going back and reading some of his old work (where I became a fan), I realized it's not as good as the people around him (Rucka, etc).
I loved Sleeper. I tried the first issues of Criminal and Fatale, but wasn't feeling it at that time.
Sometimes I try something and it doesn't click with my mood, but then I go back to it a year later and I love it. One example being American Vampire. Read the first issue, thought it was ok, but didn't grab me. Came back to it like 8 months later and it's been one of my favorite series for a few years now.

I gave up on FATALE - even stopped preordering the tpbs. I started up again with THE FADE OUT but I'm not in love. However, I just got my preordered HELLBLAZER tpb, starting with the Jenkins/Phillips run, and I SWOONED when I saw the art. I love that stuff.
